COLUMBUS, OH, Oct. 5, 2021 – A fund supporting the endeavors of marginalized, amateur comedians will start awarding quarterly mini grants of $500 to help them advance their comedy careers.
The BabeFund, a collaboration between BabeRoar and a fiscal sponsor, Wild Goose Creative, launches this week. The fiscal sponsorship allows BabeRoar to collect charitable contributions with the aid of Wild Goose's non-profit status. Mini grants will be distributed directly from Wild Goose Creative to recipients.
The mini grant application is open to any amateur comic who is from a marginalized community. Applications will be open today through November 30th. All grant applications will be reviewed throughout the month of December and the first grant winners will be announced on Friday, January 14th at 5PM Eastern on BabeRoar.com.
Grant applications will be reviewed by a board of comedy industry professionals in conjunction with BabeRoar founder, Christine Horvath. Four recipients will be chosen to receive a mini grant during the first quarter of 2022. The application will open for the second quarter of 2022 on February 13th. Comics can apply to use this money for the specific purpose of advancing their comedy careers,
including but not limited to booking a paid venue for a show, applying to festivals, or recording an album.
